DrunkThink

The current story arc starts on this page.

Went kind of quiet for a while there with the conventions I’ve been doing on the weekends (and a few other projects I’m working on that maybe I’ll be able to talk about soon). Your regularly scheduled programming is back! For realsies this time.

To everyone in that bar…I suggest leaving now before things start getting thrown around.

    Including one of those two.

    • CanuckAmuck

      …Including the bar itself.

  • GamerKale

Really Rheagan? How did you expect this to go.

Also, this guy. Just, he makes me want to shout,
    SILENCE!
    I KILL YOU!

  • GamerKale

Really Rheagan? How did you expect this to go.

Also, this guy. Just, he makes me want to shout,

    SILENCE!
    I KILL YOU!

And then, y’know I find some way to kill him.

  • Mechwarrior

    Last call for brawl!

    Disrespecting Abuela? Dude. Just… dude.

  • Yngvar Følling

I don’t remember any family members having been mentioned before. Between that, or their origins, or what their powers are (Caroline’s shield seemed to suddenly just appear one day as if it had always been there) this comic seems to be very vague about many aspects of its main characters.

    • Pinkk

I got the feeling some of it was a matter of “building on them as it goes”

    • KCGarza

There’s a reason for that: The origin story/general history will be a Patreon exclusive late this summer before getting sold at cons and eventually on the website. So that’s stuff been intentionally left in the dark for a while.

      • Rune

Wait.. The origin story and general history is Patreon exclusive?

        Really?

I … seriously hope you reconsider this. I’ve been reading since strip 1 and for the most part enjoy it, with some minor nitpicks and quibbles. as any reader may have.

But this is a deal-breaker for me. Exclusive stuff should be bonus material, not important things a reader would expect to get just by reading the story.

So, just a heads up from a reader who thinks that “origin and general history as exclusive” is a terrible idea.

        • KCGarza

It’ll be up on the website eventually! But not for a long while and the Patreon backers will have first access to it.

I appreciate you being this enthusiastic about it, but I do also need to start thinking about earning more money from the comic as it does consume a lot of my time with little payoff. Part of why I missed a few weeks of updates this month was that I’ve had to prioritize other projects that are paying the bills, when I’d really like to just draw the comic and at least get partially compensated for it. I hope you guys understand.

Most of the time webcomic creators give away their primary content, so offering material above and beyond to those who fiscally support the comic is actually soundd financial sense. It doesn’t detract from the casual reader’s experience, it serves as a reward for the folks who pony up a few bucks to support the creator’s efforts.

If you get all 12 issues for free but the annual is only available as a financial exchange, you aren’t exactly getting burned as a fan. Instead it is offering you the opportunity to receive more in exchange for a little investment on the fan’s part. Nobody twisting the arm, nobody forcing anyone, and it isn’t as though the story won’t be complete without it. Instead it is just bonus material as a thank you to those willing to help keep the lights on while the creator works.

Doesn’t seem like it ought to be a deal breaker to offer content to supporters…

  • Pinkk

Knowing he can be a bit clueless, someone else really should have corrected him on that mistake as soon as he made it. :p For everything else, there’s a Rheagan beating!

  • George Chambers

14 seconds? Feh. Bob Hawke once drank 2 and a half pints of beer in 11 seconds, setting the world record, while a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford. He went on to be Prime Minister of Australia. Rhegan’s still got some work to do.

  • haagendattsu

Haha ! Rheagan lost the right to point out other people’s personality flaws long ago. The big difference between her and Steve is Steve actually doesn’t understand his actions cause others to hate him. Also, I think it was implied awhile back he became that way as a side effect from getting his powers. Rheagan was like this already I think. She also actively goes out of her way to be obnoxious to the point you assume she takes pride in being that way. Really, i think they should just get married. They are kinda like two sides of the same coin in a way I guess.

  • Jesse Henson

I can’t decide if I pity, or hate her ex.

  • EllieGhost

Steve is a special snowflake who can even defy the laws of common sense and trail of a regular bar talk, just for the sake of making himself seemingly right.
